Tipsters Fall In The Referee Competition
Not One in 42,767 Succeed in Placing Cup Horses
Not one of the 42,767 entrants in the Referee and Arrow Sydney Cup Tipping Competition succeeded in putting the place-getters, Prince Charles, Kashmir, and Stare, in their correct order. Only one man had the three horses on his coupon, giving Prince Charles as the winner. That was Reuben Cameron, care of C. Cameron, Leeton Post Office. He placed them: Prince Charles 1, Stare 2, Kashmir 3, in the Referee competition.
Mr. Cameron will receive a consolation prize of £10. A remarkable feature of the competition was the number of people who
placed the horses as follow: Prince Charles 1, Kashmir 2, Bitalli 3. There were 22 coupons marked in that manner. Bitalli finished fourth.
